The Agile Lifecycle: A Scrum-based Project Lifecycle

Agile Projects spawned off from an 'Inception' phase are executed through a series of iterations in the 'Construction' phase, followed by a final set of iterations to roll out the production-ready functionalities as part of the 'Transition' phase.

Jile supports this through an 'Agile Project Workspace', where an agile team can execute a project in short iterations.

The Lean Lifecycle: A Kanban-based Project Lifecycle

The Lean lifecycle is based on lean principles. Projects spawned off from an 'Inception' phase are executed in the 'Construction' phase by the project team in a continuous flow model. The production-ready functionality is shipped as part of the 'Transition' phase.

The Continuous Delivery: Agile Lifecycle

This is a natural progression from the 'Agile Lifecycle'. This supports the objective of delivering more frequently in increments. Teams plan and also deliver the most important work-items at the end of every Iteration. They often adopt 'Iteration Lengths' of one week or less.

The Continuous Delivery: Lean Lifecycle

DAD's Continuous Delivery: Lean lifecycle is a Lean version of the 'Continuous Delivery: Agile Lifecycle'. In this lifecycle, the team pulls work from the work-item pool based on their 'Work-in-process' limits, completes and ships the set of work items.

Jile supports this through a 'Lean Project Workspace', where a Kanban Development team can execute and ship the work-items using a deployment pipeline, in a continuous flow model.

The Exploratory (Lean Start-up) Lifecycle

The Exploratory lifecycle is based on the Lean start-up principles, where upfront investments in solutions can be minimized. This is done based on small market tested experiments that are measured early and often during the project.

Jile supports this through tracking the execution of an Initiative in an 'Agile Project Workspace', where the Initiative is executed incrementally based on a lean start-up model, such that it is pivoted or persevered depending on the resulting outcome.

The Program Lifecycle for a Team of Teams

Large teams organize into a Team of Teams and deliver functionalities incrementally. The teams can choose their own Way-of-Working (WoW). Coordination occurs among the teams to resolve dependencies, continuously integrate, test and deliver increments.

Jile supports this through an 'Agile Program Workspace', where a team of teams can be organized, such that they can manage a backlog, plan and deliver increments.
